We are very pleased to present our newest member of our evergrowing family of artisans in Garden Art & Accessories. Diana Young works in the fascinating world of clay/stoneware sculpturing. We know that you will be just as delighted as we are with these beautiful works of art.
Artistic creativity was the unexpected gift received by Diana as the result of a head injury accident, in which her change in perception opened up in a new reality never before accessible.
Her old love of trees and their resemblance, to her, of women dancing, has evolved since 1995 into what you see today, "the dancers of the forest," sculptures of trees embodying the female form and exhibiting the various emotions and rolls expressed by women, both young and old, during a lifetime, symbolized as the basis of the family tree.
As each sculpture is one-of-a-kind, they have been SIGNED by the artist, NUMBERED, PHOTOGRAPHED, and CATALOGED.

Soon flowed "Faces of Nature",the masculine balance of wind, sun and moon - the elements. Most, recently, her interpretation of the elements as female - the Greek goddesses of the sun, Aurora, and of the moon and hunt, Diana.
Each piece is hand formed from stoneware clay, then fired over 10 hours to cone 6 (approx. 2232 deg. F). Emphasis is on the natural colors of the clay, blended to produce a multi-color result. Select pieces may be enhanced with the addition of a color wash or patina of real brass to highlight the grain, then finished with several coats of polyurethane for added richness. Loosely coiled wire and cold solder contribute as hanger attachments - several, depending on the weight of the sculpture.
The durability of stoneware allows it to be displayed not only indoors, but outdoors as well, in most climates. Frequently, new owners are using the trees as a unique way to display jewelry, ornaments, charm pictures, and other treasures.
